There is one particular concern that enters the mind of anyone who is seriously thinking about getting something. You wonder whether or not other customers are happy with the performance of the product. This principle has been valid for a long time now, and it works the same way even for your online sales. Never use fake testimonials because that is illegal, so if you can present real ones you’ll see some difference in your conversions. Testimonials accomplish a lot of things just one of which is they lend credibility to your business and product. The best you can hope for is to receive real testimonials that detail what your product did for the buyer. Always use real testimonials from real people because anything less than that here in the US is against FTC rules and the law. There has been so much abuse on the net over the years, and if anyone detects or suspects that you’re using fakes, then they may very well report you. It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway, that a testimonial needs to have a picture (best) along with name and place of residence, but not street address. It’s so easy to use fake anything online; so just be upfront about everything and that’s all you can do. If you’re lucky enough to get a video testimonial, then that will be great because video is the most powerful and compelling.
Part of your copy revision and assessment will be to make sure the benefits of doing business with you, or those of your products, are strong and compelling. In other words, you have to make every effort to show your prospect what benefit they will get out of buying your product. Benefit bullets explain the benefits of whatever you’re selling, product or service or even a newsletter; and they have to express the benefits in terms of emotional fulfillment. Bullet points can be extremely powerful, and they have been used very well for decades to make your copy more powerful. When your bullets are read, the reader gets an immediate sense for “what’s in it for them” which is all they’re interested in to begin with. Benefit bullets are not supposed to be long, no more than two short sentences, and they much be emotionally powerful. Benefits are derived from features, they are features expressed in emotional terms that the reader wants to have.
One of the most important and critical actions you could ever do is test your sales material/copy. There is so much you can test it’s ridiculous; things like copy headlines, other aspects of copy, background colors, etc. Nothing is static forever, and that includes your websites; so be sure to continually test even if you think higher conversions are not possible. It’s really a process that should never stop because you can always find something to improve. You should now very well that the web business environment is highly dynamic, so that’s another reason to never let your feet fall asleep.
We’ve offered you solid tips here, but the thing to remember is there are a lot of factors that impact your conversion rate. If there’s anything that is more important than your conversion rate is your constant taking of action to make things happen.
